David Seymour

Associate, BVM&S MRCVS

European Veterinary Dental College Resident in Equine Dentistry

David leads the Dental Service at Western Counties.  He is currently enrolled in a Residency programme with the European Veterinary Dental College working hard towards becoming an RCVS Recognised Specialist and obtaining his European Diploma, the highest qualification existing in the field of equine dentistry.

Alongside his passion for dental work and maxilla-facial surgery, David plays a significant role across the hospital and ambulatory teams including overseeing the management of the programme for Bristol Vet School students visiting Western Counties for their final year equine rotations.  He finds continuing involvement in veterinary education rewarding and is otherwise enthusiastic about his work in other areas including reproduction, lameness and critical care.

David is a member of the Association of Racecourse Veterinary Surgeons (ARVS) and an FEI Permitted Treating Veterinarian, qualifying him to provide veterinary cover at Newton Abbot and Exeter Racecourse as well as international events at Bicton Arena.

David graduated from the Royal (Dick) veterinary College in 2014, going on to complete a racing internship at Newmarket before spending a few years working in Cornwall.  He joined Western Counties as an Associate in 2018.

In his spare time David enjoys hill walking with the dogs, surfing, skiing and cooking curries
