Laboratory Services

Our in-house laboratory has recently benefitted from extensive investment and offers a wide range of investigations:

  • Routine haematological (blood count) and biochemistry analysis
  • Various profiles allowing fitness levels in performance horses to be evaluated
  • Tracheal wash (airway) in-house analysis
  • Endometrial (cervical) swabs
  • Analysis of joint fluid in cases of possible joint infection
  • Analysis of peritoneal fluid – a useful indicator in colic cases
  • Full range of bacterial culture and sensitivity
  • Faecal worm egg counts – increasingly important as parasite resistance to routine wormers increases
  • IGG checks for new born foals to ensure sufficient colostral immunity has occurred

For certain more specialised tests we use an external laboratory (eg; tests for Cushings Disease).
