Our in-house laboratory has recently benefitted from extensive investment and offers a wide range of investigations:
- Routine haematological (blood count) and biochemistry analysis
- Various profiles allowing fitness levels in performance horses to be evaluated
- Tracheal wash (airway) in-house analysis
- Endometrial (cervical) swabs
- Analysis of joint fluid in cases of possible joint infection
- Analysis of peritoneal fluid – a useful indicator in colic cases
- Full range of bacterial culture and sensitivity
- Faecal worm egg counts – increasingly important as parasite resistance to routine wormers increases
- IGG checks for new born foals to ensure sufficient colostral immunity has occurred
For certain more specialised tests we use an external laboratory (eg; tests for Cushings Disease).
